The principle of the limited slip differential means that when one of the wheels of the car loses grip, more power is redistributed to the other wheel or wheels that still have grip.
Let's imagine that during a car race on asphalt, the wheels bite into the grass, and the grip is no longer the same between the wheels on the road and those on the grass. The self-locking system compensates for this loss of grip by sending more torque to the wheels with the most grip on the road. This maintains traction and avoids sudden loss of control.
There are different types of mechanism, and these are disc-based, unlike the GT2I self-locking system, which is gear-based.
