## Description

The Cartek PDM-8C 8-channel power distribution module with CAN centralizes the power supply and control of a race car’s electrical equipment. Its protected outlets allow for the management of fuel pumps, cooling fans, heated windshields, lights, and windshield wiper motors, among other components.
The module combines configurable current thresholds, predefined functions, and CAN communication to tailor the operation of each piece of equipment. It can be configured using the built-in button and LED indicators—without a computer—or via CAN messages.
Power Outlets and Protection
Two high-power outlets: maximum threshold of 40 A per outlet, with 30 A continuous current recommended.
Four standard outlets: maximum current of 20 A per outlet, with 15 A recommended for continuous operation.
Two outlets optimized for windshield wipers: maximum current of 15 A per outlet, with 10 A recommended for continuous operation.
The module’s maximum total current is limited to 120 A. Therefore, the individual current limits should not be added together to determine its total capacity.
The electronic protection automatically shuts off an outlet in the event of an overcurrent or short circuit. A Soft Start function can be selected for equipment with high inrush current, such as pumps and fans.

Control Functions
Standard functions include input control, 1 Hz indicator light, a 5- or 10-minute delayed activation, and a 5- or 10-minute hold-over period after the control signal is turned off.
The lighting logic allows control of the tail lights, low beams, high beams, and long-range lights. It can automatically activate the tail lights along with the low beams or high beams, and condition the firing of the long-range lights to that of the high beams.
The windshield wiper control system includes two speeds, the park position, and a mirror washer function that can automatically activate the high speed.
CAN Communication and Diagnostics
The CAN bus is used to control outlets and transmit diagnostic data: outlet status, voltage, current, and configuration parameters. The three auxiliary inputs can be used, for example, for ignition control, the windshield wiper park position, or the headlight flash function.
