Products intended for vehicle modification for competition purposes may render their use prohibited on public roads, insofar as they significantly alter the vehicle's characteristics as specified in the type-approval certificate issued by the relevant authorities (noise level, pollutant emissions, maximum speed, tire dimensions, etc.).

This soft yellow ATL saver cell foam prevents fuel from sloshing around in the tank, which could unbalance the vehicle.

FUEL COMPATIBILITY

- Most fuel system components are not resistant to all types of fuel. It is therefore essential to identify the intended fuel or mixture (gasoline, diesel, alcohol, etc.) before purchasing the equipment.
Foam deflector materials, in particular, are affected by alcohol, as are certain gasoline tank materials and components.

TYPE OF SAFETY FOAM

- Gasoline tank foam is a "cross-linked" or open-cell sponge-like material.
When used inside a tank, foam helps prevent explosions, control fuel splashes and absorb some of the impact energy. Foam should never be handled when wet with fuel, as a surface fire could result.

ATL yellow foam is intended for hydrocarbon fuels, but can withstand reasonable exposure to homogeneous hydrocarbon mixtures with 5% to 85% ethanol (ethyl alcohol) [ E5 to E85 ].

For methanol, diesel and water, ATL suggests the use of blue foam. Any amount of alcohol in a fuel mixture will reduce the life and effectiveness of the safety foam.

ATL strongly recommends inspecting tank foam every 12 months, and promptly replacing any softened, flaking or "gummy" foam.
In all cases, after 10 years, the foam must be replaced by a new one.

TEMPERATURE

- ATL racing tanks can be deformed to avoid shocks and punctures.
Lower temperatures can limit deformability and therefore reduce tank efficiency. Most ATL racing gasoline tanks are designed for normal racing environments from 0º to 50ºC (30ºF to 120ºF). Use below -30ºC (-20ºF) may reduce performance. The maximum temperature for intermittent exposure to heat is 60ºC (160ºF).

REMOVING FOAM

- All tanks must be purged and rendered inert before being inspected, dismantled or stored. Care should be taken when removing foam, as its pores retain approximately 2% of the fuel's capacity. Once removed, the foam must be air-dried and the tank cleaned.
The foam can be cleaned with water and reinstalled once dry, or replaced with a new one.

STORAGE

- When storing a tank, empty it completely, wash it with soap and water, dry the inside, close all vents and keep it in a dark, warm, dry place.
