During tuning, two characteristics determined by the shape of the camshaft can be modified: valve lift and valve opening angle (duration).
The greater the valve lift, the more air-fuel mixture is admitted into the cylinders, and thus the more power is produced at high RPM.
The greater the valve opening angle, the more a sort of airflow is created that facilitates the entry of the air-fuel mixture into the cylinder: this helps draw more air-fuel mixture into the cylinders and thus generates more power.
