For the most consistent results , tilt the durometer from a backward angle through an upward angle to a forward angle. The display will move up to the highest (true) reading and then back down. Record the highest value reached. The durometer must have a straight edge on its base to perform this operation correctly. If you simply push straight down, you may get inconsistent and inaccurate results.
