Non-return degassing valve FIA

Newton has developed this Dash 6 JIC 9/16x18 fuel tank vent valve to comply with FIA regulations, Appendix J - Article 253.3.4 for tank venting systems. Tank vent valves have three main functions:

1. Under normal driving conditions, the valve acts as a normal tilt valve, which means that it closes when the tank reaches a tilt of more than 90°. This prevents fuel from escaping from the tank in an emergency.

2. The tank dump valve contains a unique hollow aluminum float ball that prevents fuel from flowing back into the valve chamber during a turn or hard braking.

3. When the valve is in the closed position, a 200mBar bypass prevents pressure build-up inside the tank.

If the inside diameter of the fuel tank vent pipe is greater than 20mm, an FIA approved check valve as defined in Article 253-14.2 must be fitted.
