Air Filter Service and Preparation
The cotton air filter requires special attention during competition. On dirty or dusty tracks, use a new filter, in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. Since this filter is only pre-oiled, fully saturate both sides with a specific air filter oil before installation.
The filter can be cleaned and reused by following these steps:
- Rinse the particle filter from the inside out to remove the largest particles. Lukewarm water at approximately 30 °C makes cleaning easier.
- Apply a specific Green cleaner to both sides and let it sit for about 10 minutes, without allowing the product to dry completely.
- Rinse again from the inside out.
- Allow the filter to dry completely before performing oiling.
- Apply a specialized oil for cotton air filters evenly to both sides, then wipe off any excess with a clean, dry cloth before reassembling.
Do not use a high-pressure washer. Allow the filter to air dry naturally and avoid using an air blower to prevent damage to the filter element.
It is recommended to have at least one spare air filter and a maintenance kit on hand during races.
