FORGE Race Intercooler for EA888 2.0 TSI engine

Designed by Forge Motorsport, developed and tested in the UK with the aim of improving the efficiency and performance of the EA888 GEN3 engine with a brief to develop an intercooler using the space available in the original OEM intercooler position, while increasing its size and ensuring that intake air temperature was reduced.

The tests were carried out by Performance Remap in Gloucester using their 4-wheel drive VTEC dynamometer, to ensure that all data was obtained with the most accurate results possible by an independent tuner. Peak power was increased by 16 bhp and 20 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm thanks to the installation of Forge Motorsport's performance intercooler.

After more than six dyno tests, very safe IAT values were still obtained, and the Forge Motorsport intercooler produced results of 34°C at 6000 RPM, a 58% reduction on the factory intercooler's intake temperatures of 58°C just before the rev limiter.

On this specific Race intercooler, inlets and outlets have been increased to 76 mm compared with the OEM size of 63 mm, with a 10% increase in frontal area.

The Forge Motorsport intercooler is the perfect product to enhance performance. It adapts directly to the OEM mounting points, making for simple installation in a relatively short time. There's no need to cut components, making the installation reversible if the vehicle needs to be overhauled in the future. The core and tanks are covered with a black textured anti-corrosion coating which also contributes to its thermal properties and gives the product a slightly stealthier appearance.
