The 310 mm VDO tubular fuel dipstick measures the fuel level in the tank. It transmits a resistance of 84.0 ? ± 2.5 ? when empty and 2.5 ? ± 1.5 ? when full to a compatible gauge.

This version has a fixed-length tube. Its resistance outlet drops as the fuel level rises; the gauge must use the curve corresponding to this fuel level sensor.
