The Pipercross MX4 intake kit has been specially developed to replace the original airbox and intake ducts on the 2015 to 2025 Mazda MX-5 2.0L.
At the heart of the system, the Pipercross cylindrical filter offers a filtration surface area 113.71 per cent greater than that of a conventional panel filter. Combined with an optimised air duct, it significantly improves airflow to the engine. Tests carried out by Pipercross have measured an increase in airflow of up to +74.25 per cent compared to the original system, whilst maintaining a level of filtration suitable for protecting the engine.
The kit also includes a 2 mm aluminum heat shield, designed to insulate the filter from heat in the engine compartment whilst maintaining the original fresh air intake. Its removable hood allows you to choose between a presentation and sound close to the original, or a more open intake with a more pronounced engine note.
The reinforced silicone intake hose replaces the original accordion-style duct to promote a more consistent airflow. It ensures a smooth transition between the 70 mm air-flow sensor tube and the 65 mm throttle housing, whilst retaining sufficient flexibility to accommodate the engine’s movements.
Developed using 3D scanning and CAD, the assembly retains the fresh air duct, the air flow meter position and the main original fastening points to ensure precise integration into the engine compartment.
