Ceramic discs are manufactured by “bonding” (via metal links) ceramic to a steel disc, for better heat dissipation. Cerametallic discs are mainly used in rally, off-road and hill-climb racing, as they enable better clutch engagement. The main advantages are better friction resistance, smoother shifting and a much lower risk of jerking than sintered metal discs.
Products designed to adapt vehicles for competition use may prohibit their use on roads open to public traffic, insofar as they significantly modify the characteristics of the vehicles as described in the type-approval report issued by the mines department: noise, pollution, maximum speed, tire size, etc.
