The Blackline limited slip differential (LSD)for the Honda Civic Type R EP3, FN2, and Integra Type R DC5 with 4WD conversion*, is designed for mounting configurations using a Honda K20/K24 engine paired with the Honda CR-V’s all-wheel drive system.

Its helical gear design allows the limited slip differential to distribute torque based on available traction. As torque increases, the gears exert pressure against the differential housing, generating the internal friction necessary for this torque distribution. The system thus helps to more effectively utilize available traction, particularly during hard acceleration and in low-traction conditions.

Under light loads, the helical limited slip differential maintains smooth, progressive, and quiet operation. This technology does not rely on friction discs and allows for an immediate and progressive reaction to changes in traction.

The Blackline limited slip differential uses a parallel-axis helical gear architecture optimized to distribute forces. Its 5:1 torque split means that when one of the wheels loses traction, the wheel with the most traction can receive up to five times the torque transmitted to the spinning wheel.

As with any helical-gear limited slip differential, a minimum amount of resistance must remain on the wheel with the least grip to allow torque transfer. This technology also works particularly well in conjunction with modern ABS systems.

The Blackline HLF090A limited slip differential is specifically designed for all-wheel drive conversion projects on Honda vehicles equipped with K20/K24 engines, notably the Civic Type R EP3, FN2, FD2, and Integra Type R DC5, using the all-wheel drive components from the Honda CR-V.
