Cat Cams 4900374 camshaft for the PSA Citroën XU9JA (DKZ) 1.9L 8-valve SOHC engine with 109 mm valves. This 301° profile is designed for competition engines intended specifically for asphalt rallying and track use.

The symmetrical intake/exhaust profile offers a duration of 301° at 0.1 mm and 254° at 1 mm, with a valve lift of 12.50 mm. The cam angle is 106° for both intake and exhaust.

At TDC, valve lift reaches 3.95 mm on the intake and 3.90 mm on the exhaust. The timing at 1 mm is 21° / 53° on the intake and 53° / 21° on the exhaust.

This profile is intended for racing engines. Cat Cams specifies that it must be used with an independent engine management system based on a throttle position sensor or with a carburetor fuel system. This camshaft also lacks a fuel pump drive lobe.

Mounting requires precise control of mechanical clearances. The camshaft must rotate freely in the cylinder head, which must be machined locally if necessary. Cat Cams specifies, in particular, a minimum clearance of 0.6 mm between the valve stem gasket and the valve seat at full valve lift, at least 1 mm of available spring travel at full valve lift, and a minimum valve-to-piston clearance of 1 mm, with 1.5 mm recommended.

Since XU engines can accommodate valves with different valve stems— 109 mm or 105 mm—the installed length of the springs must be checked. This part number is specified here for the 109 mm configuration.

Mounting Precautions

For use only in competition engines with independent engine management systems that use a throttle position sensor or with carburetors.
Check that the camshaft rotates freely in the cylinder head and machine the necessary areas if needed.
Allow a minimum of 0.6 mm between the valve stem gasket and the valve retainer at full valve lift.
Maintain a minimum of 1.0 mm of available spring travel at full lift.
Maintain a minimum valve-to-piston clearance of 1.0 mm; Cat Cams recommends 1.5 mm.
Check the valve-to-piston clearance between 5° and 15° before TDC on the exhaust side and after TDC on the intake side.
It is essential to check the length of the valve stems and the installed height of the springs on XU engines.
