Pierburg solenoid

A boost regulator is a device that controls the level of boost produced in the intake manifold of a turbocharged engine by acting on the air pressure supplied to the mechanical actuator of the wastegate valve or by modifying it, thanks to a pressure bleed before the actuator, allowing your turbo to produce more boost.

This is an excellent upgrade from the 2-port device found in many turbocharged vehicles. Manufactured by Pierburg, this high-quality 3-port N75 solenoid replaces the following OEM part numbers:

This boost solenoid can be used to replace the solenoids mentioned above. It can also be included in the engine management computer of an original turbocharged car or in a replacement electronic boost controller.

In most cases, the best way to control a boost solenoid is to use a stand-alone ECU management system. This way, boost control, as well as fuel delivery and engine timing, can be adjusted to ensure that your engine runs optimally and safely.

Even with an electronic controller, overly soft actuator springs can cause the wastegate to open prematurely. The back pressure from the exhaust gases continues to exert pressure on the relief valve itself. This back pressure can overcome the spring pressure without the aid of the actuator. The electronic control can still allow boost to be controlled up to more than twice the nominal spring pressure.

The installation of a boost solenoid is not intended for novices in tuning. Any manual or electronic boost regulator must be installed with caution.

The Pierburg boost solenoid offers complete flexibility in boost control when precise settings are required. Misuse or incorrect adjustment of this product can destroy your engine! Boost controllers must be configured using a map or on a car, motorcycle, or engine test bench to ensure that AFRs are maintained once boost levels are set.
