Racing brake fluids are based on ethylene and glycol. They have a high boiling point and lubricate the seals, but they are very corrosive and therefore not suitable for the brake systems of older cars.
For these cars, silicone-based brake fluid should be used. The boiling point is higher than ethylene glycol, but this fluid is not hygroscopic, and mold will form over time. It is therefore advisable to drain the system frequently to avoid the accumulation of mold in the calipers.
Attention: ethylene glycol and silicone fluids are not miscible!
