The VDO cooling fluid temperature sensor with a 1/2-14 NPTF connection is used to measure cooling fluid temperature. It operates in the range of +40 to 120 °C and outputs a resistive signal intended for a compatible temperature indicator.

The outlet of 287.4 to 22.7 ? must match the electrical specifications of the gauge or indicator being used. An identical display range alone is not sufficient to guarantee compatibility. The alarm contact at 103 °C ± 3 °C provides a separate function from the measurement, designed to control a compatible warning light.
